September 24 (Saturday): Type, Temperament, and Learning Style
Lorna Minewiser, Ph.D. (INFP) Are you a new or experienced teacher, trainer, or counselor who wants to know more about type, temperament and learning? Do you want to know more about what motivates you and your students? Are you a student who would like to know how to maximize your learning style? Are you a parent who wants to help your kids learn more easily? Or are you someone who wants to know more about how type and temperament preferences may affect our learning preferences? Join us on September 24th from 9 to noon with Lorna Minewiser, Ph.D, and learn which of the learning styles best fit you. During the workshop, you will examine the strengths, and key motivators of your type and how they relate to learning. This interactive class is great for anyone who uses type in their work or their life. Lorna will include the process she used in her dissertation research on “Eliciting teacher’s mental models of teaching and learning.”
October 22 (Saturday): Sensing and Sensibility
Vicky Jo Varner (INFJ) A majority of APTi members (and type enthusiasts) are said to have a preference for intuition. Perhaps for this reason, sensation is among the most poorly understood of the eight psychic functions as Jung identified them in his typology scheme. Many definitions of sensation found online are bunk, and it is frequently disrespected as a vital process. During this interactive, multi-media presentation, we will bring you into better relationship with the sensation function. We will explore the sensing function in depth, including: What does sensation look like? What does sensation feel like? What does sensation contribute typologically? How did Jung define sensation? How do other type experts (such as John Beebe) define sensation? How do introverted and extraverted sensation differ? Why are sensation types sometimes hard to spot? How effectively does the MBTI identify sensation? How is sensation marginalized in the type community? Who are leading Jungians with preferences for sensation? How does sensation manifest in American culture?
